Scope and Contents The D.M. Brown Collection consists of glass-plate lantern slides, negatives, index title cards, 16mm films, and a lantern slide projector. Most of the lantern slides were apparently made by Brown in the 1930s as part of his dissertation research at Duke University on plant communities on Roan Mountain. This material was used by Dr. Brown during the 1930s and 1940s as a teaching aid for biology and botany classes he taught at ETSU, then East Tennessee State College. Images are primarily of local...
