Boxes 1 and 2 contain correspondence, inventories, purchase contracts, and reports; Boxes 3 and 4 encompass blueprints of telephone poles and lines; and the oversized blueprints and maps are stored in map cabinets by accession number.

Dorman E. Tucker Collection
The Dorman E. Tucker Collection consists primarily of 19th century East Tennessee legal documents (including deeds and land grant records), family history, and miscellaneous papers of ancestral families of Tucker, including the Garst and Nave families. The collection includes the only known document with Henry Johnson’s signature. Henry Johnson was the founder and namesake of Johnson City, Tenn.

W. Hanes Lancaster, Jr. Memoir
The W. Hanes Lancaster, Jr. Collection consists of a spiral-bound typescript of Lancaster's World War II memoirs related to his military service titled, "A Military Adventure, 1943-1944-1945 for My Four Daughters," Lancaster completed the writing of his wartime reminiscence in 1997. The memoir describes Lancaster's experiences as a gunner aboards B-29 bombers in the Asian and Pacific theatres during World War II, including bombing missions into China and Japan.

The records are divided into sub-groups according to the serial program or the announcer/producer responsible for creating the records and for their transfer to the archives. To date there are three sub-groups: Sub-group 1: Tom Christy Records; Sub-group 2: Country Roots Radio Series records/Richard Gordon, producer; and Sub-group 3: Ed Price Records. The bulk of the records consist of Tom Christy's materials in Sub-group 1.

William C. Hicks Papers
The William C. Hicks Papers contain personal and business correspondence, receipts, accounting ledgers and a cash book documenting W. C. Hicks' business activities between 1894 and 1927. The business correspondence describes purchase contracts for the acquisition of factory equipment for the "Midget" Roller Flour and Corn Meal Company and the Virginia Rural Retreat Water Mills. The personal correspondence documents Hicks' involvement with the sales of the Eldredge and Forkner Estates.

The William L. and Gowan Merson Smith Recordings consist of 78 open reel audiotapes and 5 audiocassettes. They include tapes of William and Gowan Smith, live and home performances of fiddle playing, compilations of recorded fiddle playing, and tapes of mass-produced television, radio, and commercial fiddle recordings.
William L. Jenkins Collection
William Sullivan Ledgers
The collection reflects aspects of William Sullivan's life, family history, and business 1864-1911. Sullivan's letter from a camp near Fredricksburg, Virginia in 1864 describes his attitude towards the Civil War in that year. Copies of pages from his 1879 ledger outline his police duties for that year and detail his genealogy. (Some copies are illegible.) His 1911 ledger lists accounts for the Mitchell Powers Company and reflects church and business construction for the year 1911.
Walter Clement Wilson Papers
The Walter C. Wilson Papers contain newsclippings, correspondence, and memorabilia reflecting Wilson's professional career at East Tennessee State College. The bulk of the material centers around the 1937 honors he received for 26 years of service to the college and correspondence reflecting appreciation for his outstanding work from former pupils and associates.
Nat T. Winston Papers
The Nat T. Winston Papers consist of documents from, by, and about the Taylor and Winston families of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The papers include correspondence, land deeds, diplomas, receipts, and other memorabilia. There are two documents concerning enslaved people: A collateral bond and an agreement between Winston family members pertaining to property.
