Golden Days Project Collection

Scope and Contents The Golden Days Project contains transcripts, interview summaries, and paperwork related to oral history interviews conducted by Dr. Richard Blaustein’s students or by others under the guidance or supervision of Blaustein over a number of years beginning in the late 1970s and continuing into the late 1980s. A variety of topics are discussed in these interviews, including local history, culture, folklore, and customs of the southern Appalachian region.

John A. Jones Almanac and Scrapbook Collection

Scope and Contents This collection consists of ninety-three almanacs and thirty-four scrapbooks. The almanacs were published from 1849 to 1929, by a variety of companies and organizations involved in farming, health, literature, medicine, religion, etc. The scrapbooks are items clipped from newspapers, magazines, and books glued in old books. The scrapbooks were given numbers and a completion date by Jones.
