Arrangement The material contained in the scrapbooks date from 1796 to 1938. The volumes have overlapping dates, but are not arranged chronologically. Volume numbers assigned by Fain have been retained whenever possible, and numbers have been assigned to unmarked volumes. Loose pamphlets, financial documents and written historical sketches have been removed from the volumes and placed in a separate folder with the first volume. Scope and Contents The Nat T. Winston Papers consist of documents from, by, and about the Taylor and Winston families of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The papers include correspondence, land deeds, diplomas, receipts, and other memorabilia. There are two documents concerning slaves held by family members.
