This collection consists of papers recovered from the DeVault property in Jonesborough, Tennessee. It includes letters, deeds, photographs, day books, ledgers, genealogies and newspaper clippings. Much of the material was produced by John DeVault (Davault), the son of Frederick DeVault (Davault).

The Mike DuBose Photographs collection consists of 21 black and white prints of serpent-handling practices in religious services in the Appalachian region taken by DuBose between 1984 and 1985. The Ed Wolfe Papers consist of audiocassettes, transcripts and photographs generated by Mr. Wolfe while he was researching his books on the Interstate Railroad. The content of the audiocassettes is primarily conversations with Mr. Wolfe's father, Hugh Wolfe, 1915-2009, who was a railroad employee from 1937-1978. There are other interviews with Hugh's former co-workers Les Blevins, Jack Long, M.D. Watts, and Ben Williams, as well as with Hugh's brother York Wolfe and Ed's aunt Mary Wolfe.
