The John P. Lamb, Jr. Collection consists of correspondence, memoranda, and reports related to various issues which involved Lamb as dean of the College of Health at ETSU. Topics cover the construction of the Speech and Hearing Center, the development of a medical school at ETSU, the reorganization of the College of Health into the School of Public and Allied Health, the School of Nursing, and the Appalachian Regional Center for the Healing Arts.
The collection is divided into nine series: Series 1, Miscellaneous Ledgers and Journals, 1902-1972; Series 2, Shop Orders, 1946-1982; Series 3, Purchase Invoices, 1975-1983; Series 4, General Accounting Ledgers, 1930-1956; Series 5, Union Contracts and Bills of Lading, 1957-1984; Series 6, Company Documents; Series 7, Photographs; and Series 8, Oversize.

The collection reflects the activities and interests of the Lee R. Herndon Chapter in ornithology and wildlife and the natural environment in general. Material in the collection includes administrative and subject files, correspondence, reports, minutes of club meetings, annual records of bird sightings, a scrapbook, newspaper clippings, miscellaneous publications, and photographic slides of birds, plants, and nature scenes.
The collection is organized into two series, as follows: Series 1, Academic Files, 1925-2000 and undated, and Series 2, Writings and Miscellaneous Papers, 1938-1999 and undated. Files within each series are arranged in alphabetical order by folder subject heading generally following the arrangement established by Dr. Brown.

The Southern Appalachian Chapter of Sigma Xi Records document the activities and operations of the Johnson City, Tenn.-based chapter of the national Sigma Xi organization, including chapter meetings and sponsorship of a science fair. The collection includes charter information, correspondence, financial records, reports, records of meetings, membership information, newsletters and miscellaneous publications.
These records document the activities of the Southern Appalachian Ministry in Higher Education from 1973-1980. They also highlight educational, social, economic, and religious issues shaping Appalachia during the 1970s. They include Board and committee minutes, correspondence, memos, project files, transcripts of interviews, surveys, newsletters, pamphlets, and articles on life in Appalachia. There are files on the boycott of the J.P. Stevens & Co. plant in Georgia.

The William C. Hicks Papers contain personal and business correspondence, receipts, accounting ledgers and a cash book documenting W. C. Hicks' business activities between 1894 and 1927. The business correspondence describes purchase contracts for the acquisition of factory equipment for the "Midget" Roller Flour and Corn Meal Company and the Virginia Rural Retreat Water Mills. The personal correspondence documents Hicks' involvement with the sales of the Eldredge and Forkner Estates.
