Flatt and Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show Films
The Flatt and Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show Films consist of recordings in multiple formats of seven (7) of the television show's episodes featuring Flatt and Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys that originally aired on: April 25, 1961; June 21, 1961; September 12, 1961; September 27, 1961; February 1, 1962; February 27, 1962; and July 10, 1962. The collection also includes a binder of material pertaining to the provenance and reformatting of the film by the donors.
The Flatt and Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show aired weekly from 1955 through 1969. It was a thirty-minute show that included extensive musical performances by the band along with commercials for products made by Martha White, the show's sponsor. Each episode featured Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, Curly Seckler, Josh Graves, Paul Warren, and Jake Tullock. Hylo Brown appeared on the three 1962 episodes, and Mother Maybelle Carter appeared as a special guest on September 27, 1961, while Curly Seckler did not appear on the July 10, 1962 episode. T. Tommy Cutrer served as each episode's host.
