Scope and Contents

The Mountain Home Collection includes administrative and topical files documenting operations of the hospital and home for United States military veterans and retirees at the Veterans Administration hospital and complex in Johnson City, Tenn. Materials found in the collection include correspondence, annual reports and other reports, brochures, newsclippings, pamphlets, newsletters, payroll book (1904-1910), death records (1955-1983), photographs, a videotape recording, and scrapbooks.

Method of Acquisition

The Mountain Home Collection was donated to the Archives of Appalachia by Martha Whaley, Museum at Mountain Home, Mountain Home, Tenn., on January 15, 2009.
