Thomas H. Wilson Family Letters
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of fourteen letters written to Francis Marion Wilson and his wife, Jennie Ferguson. Most of the letters are from Marion's father, Thomas H. Wilson, but there are also messages from Marion's brothers, William Isaac and Jacob, from Marion's sister, Rebecca, from Elizza Grindstaff and from Daisy Ferguson. Some of these messages are written on the backs of Thomas' letters. All of the letters originated in Doeville, Johnson County, Tennessee.
Themes include family news, local gossip, politics and the economy. Thomas Wilson frequently described his failing health and entreated his son to come home for a visit. Marion and his family were living and working in the West (they are residents of Missouri on the 1900 census).
