Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the general files maintained in the president's office during the tenure of ETSU President Roy S. Nicks. Papers accumulated during the interim president of Dr. Bert Bach (1991-1992) are also included within Series III. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, reports, minutes of c\various university committees, councils, and task forces, newsclippings, press releases, financial records, files related to activities of ETSU's overseeing boards (the Tennessee State Board of Regents and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission), university publications, and miscellaneous printed matter. Among the subjects documented about ETSU and higher education in Tennessee are issues related to accreditation, academic standards, curriculum, business and finance, academic governance, academic departments and university offices, faculty and other university personnel, athletics, student affairs, affirmative action, campus life, research, campus physical plant, social and cultural events, various educational associations and organizations, and the Quillen College of Medicine.
