George Bela Kehler Papers
Scope and Contents
The George Bela Kehler Papers consist of the research files Dr. Kehler compiled over the course of many years in the writing of his two-volume study of piano composers, pianists, and piano concerts titled "The Piano in Concert" (Metuchen, N.J.: Scarecrow Press, 1982). This has become a standard music reference work. The files contain copies of newspaper clippings, concert programs, notes, and other miscellaneous printed ephemera documenting the lives and concert performances of pianists, primarily of the 19th and 20th centuries.
