Scope and Contents

The collection consists of materials relating to Richter Moore's research and to the involvement of Richter and Carolyn Moore in the Democratic Party. Included are personal and professional correspondence, campaign materials, pamphlets, photographs, newsclippings, scrapbooks, memorabilia, fliers, materials from local organizations, local election posters, and files on local history, including Jonesborough, Greeneville, Boone's Creek, and State of Franklin, Tennessee. There is some original correspondence from R.C. Stonecipher and several claims, signed by W.G. Brownlow, for reimbursement for Civil War-related losses.

Materials are arranged alphabetically by type. Correspondence is arranged alphabetically, and then chronologically. Newspaper articles, notes for courses, and personal schoolwork are foldered according to Richter Moore's original order.

Method of Acquisition

Carolyn Moore began donating the papers in 1997, accession numbers 1997-020, 1997-029, 1997-035, 1997-046, 1997-053, 1997-069.
