Scope and Contents

The Veterans History Project Collection includes manuscripts and printed materials, audio tapes, compact discs, VHS videocassettes, and photographs. The audio tapes, compact discs, and VHS videocassettes contain the recorded interviews. The manuscripts and printed materials contain biographical information, information about the recorded interviews, transcripts of the recorded interviews, and other miscellaneous paper materials provided by the veterans. The photographic prints focus mainly on the veterans at the time of the interview, although some of the photographs contain material from the war in which the snapshot was taken.

The interviews are divided into series by the institution that conducted the interviews and the dates of the interviews.

Method of Acquisition

The Veterans History Project consists of materials donated to the Archives of Appalachia by the veterans and students who took part in the program.

Processing of this collection was completed in July 2003 by Amy Barnum, Lucas Henry, and John Fleenor. Additional processing was completed in 2014 by Amos Garner and Kaley Hoffman.
