Emmett Essin Papers
Scope and Contents
The Emmett Essin Papers consist of drafts of his Shavetails and Bell Sharps: The History of the U.S. Army Mule, published in 1997 by the University of Nebraska Press. Included in the collection are an uncorrected typescript draft of the manuscript, a corrected typescript draft, a photocopy of the typescript draft (with editor's corrections), and galley proofs.

The Emmett Essin Papers were donated to the University Archives on August 12, 1997, by Emmett M. Essin, III, professor of history at East Tennessee State University.
Dr. Essin donated additional materials on December 9, 2013, accession 2013-064.
