Scope and Contents

The East Tennessee Church Ledger is a financial ledger of an unidentified congregation (probably Presbyterian) in East Tennessee. The ledger contains several financial entries, including accounts payable, bills payable, congregational funds, general subscriptions, miscellaneous income, mortgage income, profit and loss, and special subscriptions. The ledger also contains entries of "Outside Churches," including Timber Ridge, Bethesda, Pilot Knob, Portrum's Memorial, Vardy, Glen Alpine, Reedy Creek, and Flag Pond churches. The entries in the ledger are dated from 1911 to 1923.

Method of Acquisition

In 1996, the East Tennessee Church Ledger was found in the East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Transportation Company Records (AppMs 91) that had been donated to the Archives of Appalachia in 1988 by George and Larry Shoun of Butler, Tennessee, accession number 1988-054.

Processing Information
