The collection is arranged into two series as follows: Series 1, Administrative Files, 1944-1964, and Series 2, Scrapbooks, 1943-1998.

Material in each series is arranged in chronological order. An oversized newspaper found loose in the scrapbook collection has been removed and housed in a map folder and filed in the map cabinet by accession number.

Method of Acquisition

The Daughters of the American Revolution-Sarah Hawkins Records were donated to the Archives of Appalachia by Betty Stevens, Erwin, Tenn., on behalf of the Sarah Hawkins Chapter, on September 22, 1999.

Processing Information

The collection was processed by Mary Dykes and opened to research in December 2007.
