Scope and Contents
The Vivian Rockwood Papers document Rockwood’s professional activities as a college professor of home economics as well as her personal interests, especially in researching her family history. A major portion of the collection includes research and manuscript drafts for her major two-volume family history titled Four Centuries of American Descendent of Richard Rockwood of Dorchester 1633, Braintree 1636, Massachusetts: A Family Genealogy. Material in the collection includes correspondence, research notes, book drafts, reports and professional writings, photographs and slides, publications, awards, memorabilia, home economics curriculum materials, workshop papers, lesson plans and course designs, school papers, miscellaneous printed matter, and two audiocassette tape recordings. The collection spans from 1908- 2000, but the bulk of the collection ranges from 1929-2000.
Note: Ms. Rockwood donated the family history research notes and files she used for researching and writing the Rockwood family history to the New England Historic Genealogical Society (once called the New England Historical and Genealogical Society) in Boston, Massachusetts.
