Scope and Contents

The collection reflects aspects of William Sullivan's life, family history, and business 1864-1911. Sullivan's letter from a camp near Fredricksburg, Virginia in 1864 describes his attitude towards the Civil War in that year. Copies of pages from his 1879 ledger outline his police duties for that year and detail his genealogy. (Some copies are illegible.) His 1911 ledger lists accounts for the Mitchell Powers Company and reflects church and business construction for the year 1911.

The William Sullivan Collection was given to the Archives of Appalachia on November 12, 1980 by Carolyn D. Moore at the request of Helen Hill Dove and in February 1980 by Helen Hill Dove.
