Scope and Contents
The Bertram S. Allen, Jr. Collection documents his military service (1968-1970) with the United States Army's 25th Division during the Vietnamese Conflict and provides information about the history of the 25th Division. The collection contains copies of documents and photographs from the donor's scrapbook. The photocopies include a few pages from Tropic Lightning: A History of the 25th Infantry Division; a letter, dated 30 January 1969, to PFC Bertram S. Allen, Jr., from his father; and articles written by Allen for Tropic Lightning News in 1969. The copied photographs portray Allen and fellow soldiers during military service in Vietnam and Vietnamese civilians. Some of the photographs were taken in 1969 or 1970, while the remainder are undated.
