Sheet Music
Scope and Contents
The Sheet Music Collection contains printed individual sheet music and booklets of song collections. Christmas carols, classical, gospel, patriotic, and popular compositions are all included in the collections.The sheet music in the collection have copyright dates ranging from 1779-1969.
The first additions to this collection include an oversize folder containing sheet music for Chopin Waltzes and Classical piano. The second addition contains sheet music for the songs "Asheville: 'The Land of the Sky'" and "Lakeland" which were written by Roy U. Starkey and Harry F. Hartzell.

The files are arranged alphabetically by title of composition within a single series.
Method of Acquisition
The Sheet Music Collection was donated to the Archives of Appalachia from the B. Carroll Reece Museum in September 1983.
Accruals and Additions
The collection accrued 1 oversize folders that was transferred from accession 179, Miscellaneous Papers. The folder is stored in the map cabinet by accession number.
The second addition to the Sheet Music Collection was donated to the Archives of Appalachia by Dr. Richard Blaustein, ETSU, Johnson City, Tenn., on October 3, 1991 and opened to researchers in July 1997.
Processing Information
K. McCurry completed processing and the collection was opened for research in July 1987. The addition was processed by Ned Irwin and opened to research in July 1997.
