Scope and Contents The Thomas Highley Morris Papers date from 1911 to 1959. The papers include personal records, files created during Morris' law practice, and records accumulated during his tenure as an official of the Johnson City Housing Authority. The records of Morris' law practice include files of World War I veterans who were attempting to recover government life insurance benefits and miscellaneous legal files. Tobacco Warehouse Checks and Receipts

Scope and Contents The Tobacco Warehouse Collection consists of 17 receipts and tobacco warehouse checks related to the sale of tobacco at local tobacco warehouses in Johnson City, Tenn., between 1929 and 1940. Receipts give the names of the tobacco grower and the tobacco buyer as well as the weight of tobacco sold and the amount paid. Among the tobacco warehouses represented in the collection are the Central Tobacco Warehouse, Cozart & Foxworth Tobacco Warehouse, and Farmers & Merchants Warehouse.

Scope and Contents The Tour of Downtown Johnson City Brochure was a product of Transitions, a Junior Achievement company of Science Hill High School, Johnson City, Tennessee. The brochure describes several historic structures in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee. The materials include a copy of the brochure, typed drafts of the text for the brochure, a mockup of the brochure, and eight photographs, most of which were used in the brochure.

Scope and Contents The Dorman E. Tucker Collection consists primarily of 19th century East Tennessee legal documents (including deeds and land grant records), family history, and miscellaneous papers of ancestral families of Tucker, including the Garst and Nave families. The collection includes the only known document with Henry Johnson’s signature. Henry Johnson was the founder and namesake of Johnson City, Tenn.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of 72 hand-tinted glass plate positives. The photographs were taken in the 1920s and 1930s by the Reverend Chester Leonard. They depict scenes from the Vardy Community in Hancock County, Tennessee.

Hanes Lancaster, Jr. Collection consists of a bound typescript of Lancaster's World War II memoirs related to his military service titled, "A Military Adventure, 1943-1944-1945 for My Four Daughters," Lancaster completed the writing of his wartime reminiscence in 1997. The memoir describes Lancaster's experiences as a gunner aboards B-29 bombers in the Asian and Pacific theatres during World War II, including bombing missions into China and Japan.
