Scope and Contents

This collection consists of photocopies of deeds and wills of the Caldwell family in Hawkins County, Tennessee and a transcript of the 1871 bankruptcy trial of James Caldwell. The documents span from 1782 through 1892.

Scope and Contents The Jesse Larrimore Campbell Papers consist primarily of two compact discs made from a 1985 recording of Campbell recalling his life. Supplementary material includes a family genealogy, photocopies of clippings and photographs, and documents about the family by Campbell's daughter and granddaughter. Scope and Contents

This collection consists of seven audio recordings of radio show sets played by Carl Sauceman and the Green Valley Boys in the 1960s. The radio station was probably WRAG in Carrollton, Alabama.

The Nora C. Carter Papers consist of documents relating to her early teaching experience in East Tennessee.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged in three series: Series 1, Papers of East Tennessee Medicine Company, 1891-1925; Series 2, Papers of the Ferguson Drug Company, 1916-1921; Series 3, Papers of Joseph W. Cass, 1907-1923. The contents of all series are organized alphabetically by subject, with correspondence being arranged alphabetically by author, and then chronologically when there is more than one piece by an author.

Scope and Contents This collection consists primarily of oral interviews and research papers relating to folk medicine. This material was collected by ETSU students of Anthony P. Cavender for his Appalachian Folk Medicine course. The interviews on food as medicine were done by students enrolled in his Nutritional Anthropology course. The Brainard Cheney Play is a photocopy of Cheney's play "Strangers in This World," an unpublished musical play about snake handling at a fictionalized version of the Dolley Pond Church.

The Brian Chisom Research Paper is a 23-page research paper and an accompanying 90-minute audio cassette tape recording of commercially produced folk songs that depict the poverty of Appalachia. The paper describes economic, political, and educational issues surrounding the attempts to "revitalize" Appalachia by the federal government during the 1960s.

The Christy Family Papers consists of materials relating to Thomas Calvin Christy's work on radio and television programs. The papers include correspondence, audio and video recordings, photographs, and personal documents pertaining to the Christy Family.

This is an artificial collection of United States Civil War-related documents, including documents relating to the pensions of Civil War soldiers.

Arrangement

The original records were arranged alphabetically into four notebooks: Book I, Maxwell Clan with Maxwell Surname; Book II, Maxwell Clan without Maxwell Surname, A-F; Book III, Maxwell Clan without Maxwell Surname, G-Z; and Book IV, General Genealogical Data. The photocopied records have been placed in acid-free folders and are arranged sequentially according to the original book numbers and then alphabetically by applicant's name.

The Clear Fork Baptist Church Minute Book consists of a single bound volume that contains handwritten meeting minutes, membership lists, financial records, and the names of individuals who were withdrawn from the church's membership roll. The minute book documents the weekly operation and activities of this Greene County, Tennessee church. The book also contains two distinct lists that identify the church's membership for the years 1875 and 1890.

Scope and Contents The Clifford A. Maxwell Photographs document businesses, events, people, and places in Johnson City, Jonesborough, greater Washington County, and the larger tri-cities region.
