Abrams and Armstrong Family Photographs
The collection consists almost entirely of studio portraits and snapshots from the early twentieth century. Most are unidentified. Among the identified photographs are several portraits of Virginia “Jennie” (Mrs. W.K.) Richmond, a president of the Presbyterian Synod of Appalachia, and a panoramic group photograph of the 1920 Womans [sic] Summer School of Missions in which she was likely a participant. The collection also includes three letters and a recipe for a cold remedy.
Arthur D. (John) Adair Collection
The Arthur D. (John) Adair collection includes correspondence from Europe to the United States during WWII from August 1943 – February 1946. The letters are primarily written by Adair to his mother in Alabama. The collection also includes a scrapbook, trip memorabilia, photographs from Europe during WWII, WWII related documents, postcards, and newspaper and magazine clippings.

The American Red Cross Johnson City-Washington County Chapter Records consist of scrapbooks, news articles, annual reports, and the contents of a notebook of historical documents thought to have been gathered by former chapter director Louise St. John Taylor.
The five scrapbooks are organized thematically and contain a variety of documents including news articles, correspondence, photographs, programs, and certificates.

Appalachia Leadership Initiative on Cancer (ALIC) Photo Resource Library Slides
The collection consists of 200 black and white and color slides of images by photographer Earl Dotter. There are also 24 text slides about the Appalachia Leadership Initiative on Cancer and a printed index to 180 of the 200 Dotter slides. The index includes demographic data on the subjects, including gender, race/ethnicity, occupation, and cancer experienced.

Appalachian Council for the Arts Records
The Appalachian Council for the Arts Records document the interests and activities of this regionally-based arts organization in prompting the arts in the Tri-Cities region of upper East Tennessee and southwest Virginia. Material in the collection includes the charter of incorporation, constitution and by-laws, financial records, correspondence, minutes of council meetings, newsletters, grant proposals, memoranda, membership lists, and an artist registry.

Appalachian-Scottish and Irish Studies Collection
Appalachian Writers Association Records
The Appalachian Writers Association Records contain financial and administrative records, correspondence, board meeting minutes, newsletters, conference materials, and membership information. The majority of the files were collected by Patricia Shirley, the AWA’s recording secretary. The collection also includes poetry, short stories, and essays that had been submitted for AWA contests.
The collection covers the period of 1980-1999 and includes some undated material.
Appy (Appalachian) League Logbook Tapes
The Appy League Logbook Tapes consist of two audiocassettes of the 1995 entries. Tape 1 contains entries 1 through 18, while Tape 2 contains entries 19 through 30.
Anne W. Armstrong Typescript: Of Time and Knoxville
The Anne W. Armstrong Collection contains a copy of a typescript of an unpublished manuscript entitled "Of Time and Knoxville, Fragment of an Autobiography" written by Armstrong. The manuscript was written sometime between 1947 and 1958 recounts Armstrong's view of growing up in Knoxville in 1880s and 1890s. The dates of the account are 1885 through 1902.
