Craft, Hazel Scott , 1911-2006

Hazel Scott Craft was born March 19, 1911 in Lincoln County, Georgia to John H. and Ruth Wright Scott. She attended Midway Methodist Church and Midway High School, but could not afford to attend college. Hazel married Ralph Craft in 1931 whom she worked with in the silk mill in Georgia. They moved to Clinton, TN in 1943 when Ralph attained a job with the government in Oak Ridge. They moved to Kingsport in 1952 to run a restaurant. They had two sons: Robert and David. Hazel enjoying reading and writing poetry and short stories. She had three inspirational books of poetry published: "Beyond the Stars," "Jesus, God's Gift of Peace to You," and "Happiness, Sorrow and Love." Hazel moved back to Georgia after her husband's death in 1998. Hazel died in 2006 after a brief illness.
