Hardin, R.H. (Roswell Holtsinger)

  • Existence: 1871 - 1950

Roswell Holtsinger Hardin was born in Tennessee on March 2, 1871, the son of Sam and Solina Hardin. He married Mary Fox in Washington County, Tennessee on February 27, 1889. Together they had three children: Eula, Edith and George. Hardin's occupation is given as photographer on the 1910 census and as farmer on the 1920 and 1930 censuses. He did photography work through Cargille's Art Studio in Johnson City, Tennessee. He also seems to have traveled to find photography work, apparently going as far as Alabama. As a photographer, he mostly did portrait work, both in indoor studios and in makeshift outdoor studios. Hardin died July 28, 1950.
