Biography
Bessie Mae Walker was born July 31, 1904 to Samuel Brown Walker and Lula Stepp Walker in Jellico, Tennessee, a mining town on the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. She graduated from East Tennessee State College in 1926. Walker died Tuesday, July 13, 1993 at Hillcrest West Nursing Home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
