Biography

Margaret F. Merson was born in Scotland. She was nicknamed Gowan, which is the name of a wild daisy. In the late 1950s, she married Bill Smith. Bill and Gowan Smith were collectors of Scottish music. They made and exchanged tapes with friends. Bill played and made fiddles. Gowan played organ and piano. Gowan died in 1995.
