Biography

Edward Dallas Cross was born October 8, 1907, in Piney Flats, Sullivan County, Tennessee. A 1926 graduate of Bluff City High School, Bluff City, Tennessee, he attended East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee, where he earned a master's degree in vocational agriculture. During World War II he served in the 175th Infantry, 29th Division, United States Army, in the European theater. Cross was a public school teacher in Sullivan County, Tennessee, and an employee of Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, Maryland, before retiring and returning to Piney Flats. Edward D. Cross died Thursday, June 8, 2000.
