Field, Thomas Parry

Thomas Parry Field was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania in 1914, but moved with his parents to Johnson City, Tennessee, when his father, Frank Field, obtained a teaching position at East Tennessee State Normal School. Thomas Field earned degrees at State Teachers College, Johnson City (B.S., 1935), George Peabody College for Teachers (M.A., 1940), and the University of North Carolina (Ph.D., 1948). He taught at State Teachers College in 1940 and 1941, and in 1948 he began teaching at the University of Kentucky, Lexington. Field died in 1990.
