Aubry Faulkner Jennings was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on October 7, 1895, the daughter of John Lynch Faulkner and Victorine Mary Frazier. Jennings received her teaching degree from University of Tennessee in 1917 and also completed post graduate study at Columbia University. Beginning in 1916, Aubry Faulkner taught elementary school in Campbell County, Tennessee before moving to New York to work in a munitions plant during World War I. After the war, Aubry Faulkner married Joe Jennings in 1919; they had two children, Rodney Paul Jennings and Mary Jean Jennings O’Brien.
