Biography
Elise Draper Barrette was born in Jackson County, Tenn. She received a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University and a master's degree in library science from George Peabody College and then began a long career as a librarian and library educator. She was a librarian at Shorter College and David Lipscomb College before coming to ETSU in 1949 as director of the library science program. She remained in this position until her retirement in 1977. She was active in the ETSU Retirees Association and was a founder of the Boone Tree Library Association. She was married to Paul Barrette, also a librarian at ETSU. Mrs. Barrette died on November 19, 1994 at the age of 83.
