Biography
Bethany Mackey was born 30 September 1904, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Mackey. She attendend high school in Cleveland, Tennessee and was a 1921 graduate of East Tennessee State Normal School. While at the Normal School, she majored in Home Economics and Literature and was the senior class treasurer as well as the Assistant Jokes Editor of the Yearbook. Mackey died in January 1969 and is buried near Cleveland, Tennessee.

The Bethany Mackey Scrapbook documents some of the on- and off-campus activities of Bethany Mackey of Cleveland, Tennessee, a 1921 East Tennessee State Normal School (ETSNS) graduate. The scrapbook includes photographs of friends, family, teachers, travels, and campus buildings. Many of the photographs are identified, including a photograph of an African-American woman labeled "Aunt Lizzie, the maid 1918-1920."
