Scope and Contents The Jack Schrader Photographs consist of black & white and color negatives, slides, contact sheets, proofs, and prints. Schrader's work encompasses a variety of subjects and ranges from portraits to candids to landscapes. Images from Schrader's exhibit "Portrait of a Community" and the Sinking Creek Film Festival are included in the collection. The Barbara McDermitt Recordings consist of 28 audiocassette recordings of Ray Hicks, Hattie Presnell, Stanley Hicks and Frank Proffitt, Jr. telling stories, playing music, and singing; 14 photographs, mainly of storytellers; and reports on the field trip tapes as well as a partial transcript of the Ray Hicks tapes. The tapes were recorded in the summer of 1982 in Beech Mountain, North Carolina.

Scope and Contents The WCYB-TV 5 Collection consists of videotapes on topics relating to the history and culture of the Southern Appalachian region. The recordings resulted from the WCYB-TV series,"Project Family," which aired early to mid 1990s. The WSJK-TV Collection consists of fifteen (15) videotapes of television programs that focus on the history and culture of East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and western North Carolina.
