Biography
Charles Chester Sherrod was born near Knoxville, Tennessee, September 13, 1882, the son of Issac and Margaret Howell Sherrod. After completing his public schooling in Knox County, he attended Maryville College, Tennessee Normal School (Fountain City), and Valparaiso University. He received his B.S. degree from Tennessee Normal College in 1905, another B.S. degree (1907), and an L.L.B. as well as an A.B. degree from Valparaiso in 1909. In 1921, he received a M.A. degree, and in 1924, a Ph.D. degree from George Peabody College, Nashville, Tennessee. He also received the honorary degree of L.L.D. from Emory and Henry College, Emory, Virginia, in 1950.

This collection is divided into two series: Series I, Radio Script and Scrapbook Materials, 1950-1953 and Series II, Memoranda, Library and Reference Materials, 1960-1980.
