Biographical Note
Captain Richard Griffin Adams was from Blackstone, Virginia. Adams served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After the war, he briefly owned a business called Adams Construction, based in Concord, Tennessee. Subsequently he became a banker and businessman and was president of the family-owned Farmers & Merchants Bank in Limestone, Tennessee. He was married to Betty Matthews; together they had three children: Dabney Adams Mayfield, Gail Adams Winn, and Griffin Adams, Jr.
