Administrative History

The School of Arts and Sciences was first organized at East Tennessee State College in 1956. The school became the College of Arts and Sciences in 1966. The dean is the chief administrative officer of the College and reports directly to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs. The associate dean serves as the dean's chief administrative assistant. The dean and associate dean are responsible for the orderly academic operation of the college, communications to faculty on matters affecting college, carrying out policies adopted by faculty, recommending policies and procedures to faculty for their consideration, and receiving and transmitting faculty concerns on policies or actions.
