The United Way of Johnson City, Tennessee, is a local organization of United Way of America (founded 1918). Each year the employees of East Tennessee State University contribute to the local United Way, which provides financial support to such local agencies as the Salvation Army, the Volunteer Center, Inc., the Johnson City Rescue Squad, and the Johnson City Boys & Girls Club.
