East Tennessee State University. Office of Contracts and Grants

Founded in 1976, the Office of Contracts and Grants has supported faculty research, instruction and service. Since it was created, the office has operated under three directors: Morton Cooper, 1978-1980; M. Burrell Richardson, 1980-1982; and Abbott Brayton, 1982-1984. (In 1983, the director of the Office of Contracts and Grants, Abbott Brayton, reported to the Vice-president for Academic Affairs.)

The purpose of the Office of Contracts and Grants is three-fold:

1. To encourage faculty research efforts. 2. To provide faculty with external funding, technical expertise, and assistance in a proposal development and submission. 3. To provide assistance to faculty in the administration of their projects as needed.
