Watauga Association of Genealogists

 Organization

Biography

The Watauga Association of Genealogists was organized in 1971 in Johnson City, Tennessee. The association is primarily concerned with collecting and publishing genealogical information from the counties of upper East Tennessee. However, membership in the association is not restricted to individuals who live in that region.

The association meets monthly (except January and February) at the Johnson City Public Library. The association's collection of books and family genealogies is stored in the Tennessee Room of the same library.

Since 1972 the association has published the Bulletin of the Watauga Association of Genealogists. Transcriptions of some of the records in the collection have been published in the Bulletin.
