Tennessee Civil War Centennial Commission

 Organization

The Tennessee Civil War Centennial Commission was established to celebrate the Civil War centennial. The commission had the additional responsibility of gathering material from each county on activities that occurred in those counties. The commission was established by an Act of the General Assembly, and functioned through the services of the State Library and Archives.

Mrs. L. W. McCown was appointed chairperson of the Washington County Civil War Centennial Commission. She refused the appointment but did agree to serve on the commission as a member.
