Council of Nursing of Upper East Tennessee

The Council of Nursing of Upper East Tennessee was organized February 15, 1972 under the sponsorship of the Tennessee Mid-South Regional Medical Program. The Council's aims were to identify and meet continuing educational needs of area nurses and to foster continuity in nursing care throughout Upper East Tennessee. Specifically, the Council conducted monthly meetings as well as workshops and teleconferences from May 30, 1972 through May 5, 1976. As East Tennessee State University increased its continuing education activity for area nurses, the eighteen active members voted on February 13, 1976 to disband the council, feeling it had accomplished its objectives. Council funds were given to the ETSU B.S. and A.D. Departments of Nursing to be used for continuing education programs.
