The Butler Project Collection consists of a carousel of 101 35mm slides, a 60-minute audio cassette narration, and narration notes and slide cues. The program concerns the 1983 draw down of Watauga Lake and the reminiscences of individuals who remember Butler (Old Butler), Tenn., before the Tennessee Valley Authority lake covered the town in 1948.
The collection is arranged in 3 series: Series 1, Minutes, April 1966-October 1980; Series 2, Subject Files, March 1965-May 1980; Series 3, Publications, June 1967-August 1980. Series 3 includes 3 subseries: Subseries 3.1, Reports and Program Plans, 1967-1980; Subseries 3.2, Studies and Surveys, 1971-1980; and Subseries 3.3, Newsletters and Public Relations, 1967-1980.
The Johnson City Power Board Records consist of financial statements, records of disbursements, lists of customers, monthly reports, power distribution monthly reports submitted to the Tennessee Valley Authority, rate schedules, contracts between the utility and the Tennessee Valley Authority, and an analysis of the utility's rates. Most of the records are dated from 1956 to 1980, while a few records are undated.
The collection is divided into eight series as follows: Series 1, Personal Papers, 1908-1955; Series 2, Republican National Convention, 1946-1952; Series 3, The Committee to Investigate Tax-Exempt Foundations, 1953-1960; Series 4, Speeches of B. Carroll Reece, 1920-60; Series 5, Scrapbooks, 1913-1960; Series 6, Photographs and Drawings, 1919-61; Series 7, Commendations and Certificates, 1865-1965; and Series 8, Addendum.
The album pages have been removed from the album binding and placed in original page order in folders. Loose photographs are grouped together in one folder, and loose album pages are placed after loose photographs.
