Biography

The Holston Baptist Association was the first permanent association in Tennessee and was organized on October 30, 1786, at Cherokee Creek Meeting House, Washington County. Buffalo Ridge and Sinking Creek churches were represented in the association in October 1787. Tidence Lane was the first moderator of the Holston Association. The Holston Association was split on December 25, 1802 to form the Tennessee Association.
