The Paul Fink Typescript consists of 209 typed pages from a 1960 manuscript titled Mountain Days: A Journal of Camping Experiences in the Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, 1914-1938. Numerous photographs are tipped in. Most of this manuscript and many of the photographs appear in published form in Fink’s 1975 book Backpacking Was the Only Way. This collection also includes a typed copy of Horace Albright’s foreword to Backpacking Was the Only Way and a single loose photograph of Fink that was clipped to the foreword.
The pages are foldered in the sequential order in which they were numbered and placed in the original binder. The foreword by Horace Albright is filed at the end of the collection as it appears to be part of a later version of the book.
