The Maxine Kenny Collection documents Kenny's involvement and interest in environmental issues related to Appalachia and includes subject files (correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports, etc.) and material (recorded interviews and transcripts) related to three radio programs produced by Kenny: "Down to Earth: the Appalachian Family Farm," "Dungannon: A Place in History," and "A Time To Reap."
The collection is arranged in the following series: Series 1, Subject Files, 1971-82 and undated and Series 2, Program Materials, 1984-88 and undated. The latter series is arranged in two sub-series: Series 2.1, Printed Material, 1985-88 and undated and Series 2.2, Audio Recordings, 1984-87 and undated.
Method of Acquisition
The Maxine Kenny Collection was donated to the Archives of Appalachia on November 7, 1994 by Maxine Kenny, Nickelsville, Virginia.
The following maps were removed from this collection and added to the Archives of Appalachia map collection:
Blountville Quadrangle, 1978;
Indian Springs Quadrangle, 1978;
Kingsport Quadrangle, 1978
Ned Irwin completed processing, and the collection was opened to researchers in March 1997.
