Arrangement

The collection is divided into two series: Series 1, Scrapbooks, 1939-77; and Series 2, Other Materials, 1914-81 and undated.

Method of Acquisition

The Johnson City-Washington County Area Chamber of Commerce transferred its records to the Archives of Appalachia on February 3, 1984 through a deposit agreement. Ownership of the records remains with the chamber. Archives staff completed processing of the collection in February 1998.

Separated Materials

Tourist brochures, regional history booklets, and East Tennessee State University reports have been removed and placed either in the Appalachian Vertical Files or the University Vertical Files.
