The Kyker Furniture Company Records consist of invoices paid by the company for furniture, rugs, lamps, radios, stoves and other appliances primarily in 1948 with a few items ranging into 1947 and 1949. Other invoices reflect operational costs for gasoline and repairs for delivery vehicles, phone service, electricity, advertising and membership in the credit bureaus. The collection provides some insight into the types of items stocked in the store, manufacturers located in the region and beyond, and costs of operation. Multiple invoices from single companies for similar items have been sampled.
The files are arranged first alphabetically by the name of the company that sent the invoice to Kyker Furniture and then chronologically within the alphabetic file.
The Kyker Furniture Records were found in the attic of Nelson Fine Arts Center when they were doing some renovation to their building. Nelson Fine Arts Center is located in the building that was formerly occupied by Kyker Furniture Company.
