The Mike Smith Photographs consist of twenty-six color photographs (16" x 20") taken by Smith as part of a fellowship project funded by East Tennessee State University's Center for Appalachian Studies and Services. The photographs depict Christmas scenes in southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee, and northwestern North Carolina. All photographs in the collection were taken during the 1992 Christmas season.
The collection is arranged alphabetically by geographic name in a single series.
Method of Acquisition
The Mike Smith Photographs were donated to the Archives of Appalachia on 21 May 1993 by Dr. Jean Haskell Speer, director of the Center for Appalachian Studies and Services at East Tennessee State University.
Ed Speer completed processing, and the collection was opened to researchers in October 1996.
