Dogwood Garden CLub

The Dogwood Garden Club was organized in April 1979 by Sue Lyle to serve those with a gardening interest in the southwest neighborhood of Johnson City, Tenn. Sponsored by the Countryside Garden Club, eighteen initial members met at Lyle’s home for the inaugural meeting. The club has focused its’ interests, programs, and projects on flower growing and arranging, gardening, conservation of natural resources, and litter control. The club joined the gardening federation on February 26, 1980. Activities over the years have included gardening tours, workshops, providing decorations for various functions, prompting plant and gardening interests, and supporting beautification projects, judging, among others.
