Scope and Contents: The Reverend Edwin White Papers primarily document White’s career and activities as a Presbyterian minister in Kingsport, Tenn., from the 1940s to 1960s, most especially his work in founding and serving as the first pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church. A small portion of the material documents similar work with other churches in Tennessee, particularly church mission work in the Cumberland Plateau region prior to his moving to Kingsport during World War II. The papers include correspondence, church records, Presbyterian denominational history and material, newsclippings, subject files of topics of interest to White, printed ephemera, photographs, and memorabilia.
